Myrrh

Myrrh is a natural resin extracted from the tree Commiphora myrrha across the Middle East and parts of Africa. Like frankincense it is an antimicrobial. It was also widely used as an analgesic for bruises, arthritis, sprains and toothaches. The ancient Egyptians used Myrrh as incense for their midday temple ritual, as well as medicinally. Myrrh is used for indigestion, ulcers, colds, cough, asthma, lung congestion, arthritis pain, cancer, leprosy, and spasms. It is also used as a stimulant and to increase menstrual flow. Myrrh can help decrease swelling (inflammation) and kill bacteria.
